# Understand AI credits

Check AI costs and access before generating, tracing or editing, and understand which parts of a workflow are separate operations.

Check the current AI balance and action cost in Synaps before generating a plan, tracing a file or editing an image.

## Check access and balance

You need editing access to run AI actions that change a project.

* **Team balance:** on the dashboard, look at the bottom of the team sidebar. It shows the credit balance or **Unlimited credits**.
* **Action cost:** check the credit badge beside the AI action or prompt before submitting. Metered plans show the cost; unlimited entitlements can hide numeric costs.
* **Plan details:** click the **Team settings** gear in the dashboard sidebar, then choose **Subscription**.

## Count the operations in a workflow

| Workflow                            | What to account for                                                             |
| ----------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Generate a plan from a brief        | A floor-plan generation submission.                                             |
| Trace an image or PDF               | The individual floor plans being traced, not only the number of uploaded files. |
| Select and repaint a surface        | Segmentation detection, then the paint edit.                                    |
| Render and revise an interior       | Camera rendering, then each subsequent image edit.                              |
| Re-segment an edited image          | Another detection operation.                                                    |
| Retry or generate a new alternative | Another submission with its own displayed cost.                                 |

Opening the floor-plan trace review does not itself start the paid trace. Review the retained regions first: **Trace All Floorplans** can include several regions across several pages.

## Resolve an insufficient-credit message

1. Check the team's balance at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar.
2. Open **Team settings → Subscription** to review the plan and the upgrade options shown for your team.
3. If you cannot manage billing, ask a team owner to review the plan.
4. Return to the action after the balance or access issue is resolved.

For a different error, follow its message. Changing a plan will not resolve an unloaded image or an invalid selection.

## Cancel an AI operation or undo a result

**Cancel** stops the local waiting flow for an image operation; work may already have started. **Undo** restores a drawing or image state. Neither action guarantees a credit refund.

If a charge is unclear, compare your balance and the information in **Team settings → Subscription**. Use the plan information shown in Synaps for current prices and allowances.
