# Create and export a paper

Create a drawing sheet, set its size and scale, and select its header to arrange or export it.

Create a **Paper** to organise a drawing sheet and define its export area. Select its header to change the sheet or open its export controls.

**Shortcut:** F

## Steps

1. Click the **Paper** tool in the toolbar, or press **F**.
2. Click once on the canvas to set one corner of the paper.
3. Move the pointer to size the paper. The width and height update live as you drag, and the paper snaps to standard sheet sizes.
4. Click again to set the opposite corner. The paper is placed.

## Choose a size, orientation and scale

Select the paper by its header, then use its properties:

| Setting     | What to choose                                                                             |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Format**  | An ISO sheet size from **A0–A6** or **B0–B5**, or a custom size. A4 is 210 × 297 mm.       |
| Orientation | Use **Swap width/height** beside the size fields to switch between portrait and landscape. |
| **Scale**   | The drawing scale on the sheet, such as **1:50** or **1:100**.                             |

While creating a paper, enter **Width** or **Height** in the tool panel to fix that dimension in the displayed unit, then click the opposite corner to place it.

## Select or move a paper

Use the paper's header to select or move it. Clicking an empty area of the paper's body does not select the paper; the body stays available for selecting drawing content inside it.

## Use more than one paper

A drawing can hold many papers, placed independently anywhere on the canvas. Draw a paper over existing shapes and any shape fully inside its bounds is taken in as that paper's content, positioned relative to the paper.

## Export your drawing

Select the paper's header, open **Export**, choose a format, and click **Export**. See [Export your drawing](/import-and-export/export-your-drawing.md) for file formats and exporting several papers.

## What you'll see

A rectangular sheet on the canvas, named "Paper 01", "Paper 02", and so on for each new one. Shapes you draw or move inside the paper become its content.
