# Restyle a placed asset

Change the fill and stroke colours supported by a placed asset, with shared styling across copies of the same reusable content.

Select a placed asset and use its **Style** controls to change the fill or stroke colours that asset supports.

Styling is shared by copies of the same reusable content. Check which copies will be affected before changing a colour. Moving or rotating one copy changes only that instance.

## Steps

1. Select the placed asset in your drawing.
2. Open its **Style** properties.
3. Change an available control, such as **Inner Fill**, **Outer Fill**, **Inner Stroke** or **Outer Stroke**.
4. Check the new colours on the selected asset and its other copies.

## What you'll see

The asset's fill or stroke changes colour, along with copies sharing that content. The panel shows only the colour controls used by that asset.

## Drawing styling versus image editing

This task changes the appearance of drawing content. [Change Material](/ai-and-automation/change-an-objects-material.md) and [Replace Element](/ai-and-automation/replace-an-object-from-a-reference.md) work on detected content in an image instead. An image edit does not automatically update the asset in your drawing.
