# Explore interior finishes

Compare paint, flooring, materials and object alternatives in an interior image using focused AI edits.

Start with an interior image, select its detected surfaces and objects, and explore one finish decision at a time.

## Before you start

Use an existing interior image or [create one from a camera view](/ai-and-automation/create-an-interior-render.md). Keep a separate original for comparison and prepare reference images for the finishes or objects you want to explore.

These edits change the image, not the editable drawing. Review the [credit requirements](/workspace-and-billing/understand-ai-credits.md) for detection and each subsequent edit.

### Inspect the detected content

Select the image and use [Segment](/ai-and-automation/select-image-objects-with-segmentation.md) to inspect its detected objects and surfaces.

### Choose one design question

Choose the first design question. For a wall palette, use [Change paint](/ai-and-automation/change-paint-in-an-image.md); for a patterned finish, use [Add/Change wallpaper](/ai-and-automation/apply-wallpaper-in-an-image.md).

### Compare the result

Inspect the result before changing another surface. Compare the selected area and the surrounding scene with your original.

### Review the complete image

Use **Re-segment** if an edit changes the content enough that the old detection no longer fits. Review the complete image before using it in a presentation.

## What you'll see

The interior image shows the finishes and objects you chose to explore. Compare the complete composition with your original before using it in a presentation.

## Example sequence

For a warmer interior direction, first test a wall colour, then a flooring reference, then the upholstery on one detected object. Reviewing each change separately makes it easier to see which decision improved the composition.

If you want a broad change of atmosphere rather than one surface at a time, use [Edit with prompt](/ai-and-automation/edit-an-image-with-a-prompt.md), and inspect the entire result for unintended changes.

## Carry the decision back to the drawing

After choosing a direction, update the corresponding drawing elements and placed assets. Verify actual product dimensions and material specifications separately.
