# Write and refine an AI prompt

Write a focused brief, choose the right AI action, and refine the result without confusing an image edit with a drawing edit.

Choose the action that produces the result you need, then describe the change, its context and what should remain.

## Choose the task before writing

Choose the action for the output you need:

* **Generate a floorplan** creates an editable plan from a brief.
* **Edit with prompt** changes an existing image.
* A camera's render prompt creates a new image from its view.
* Segmentation actions use a detected region and, where required, a colour or reference image.
* **Expand** uses the bounds you choose; its current interface does not accept a custom expansion prompt.

## Write a floor-plan brief

Describe the type of space, required rooms and important relationships. Put the most important requirement first.

> A compact two-bedroom apartment. Include an open kitchen and living area, one bathroom, a utility room and entrance storage. Separate the bedrooms from the entrance and minimise corridor space.

For a fixed footprint, use **Pick a boundary shape** to select your outline. Measure the generated plan and compare it with your brief.

## Write an image-editing instruction

Name the desired change and the context you want to retain.

> Change the overall finish palette to pale oak and warm off-white. Retain the furniture arrangement and the viewpoint.

Whole-image edits can affect surrounding content. If the task is only to repaint a wall or replace a chair, select that content with **Segment** and use its focused action instead.

## Guide a camera render

Use the style picker for a broad visual direction, then add a brief describing the atmosphere or finishes that matter.

> A bright residential interior with natural timber, neutral fabrics and soft daylight.

Compare the result with the drawing, especially openings, furniture and proportions.

## Refine deliberately

1. Inspect the result before submitting another instruction.
2. Identify the most important mismatch: layout, viewpoint, selection or appearance.
3. Correct the relevant input. Edit the drawing for geometry, reposition the camera for viewpoint, or revise the image selection for a local change.
4. Make another AI submission only when it addresses that mismatch.
