# Change artwork and patterns

Apply a reference artwork to a detected wall picture, or a reference pattern to a detected carpet.

Use **Segment** to select wall artwork or a carpet, then apply a reference image with the action offered for that content.

These actions update the original image. Keep a separate copy for comparison. Choosing a built-in sample, where offered, starts the operation immediately and can use AI credits.

## Change wall artwork

To replace the artwork shown within a detected wall picture:

1. Select the interior image and click **Segment**.
2. Wait for detection, then click the wall-art region.
3. Choose **Change Art**.
4. Upload or drop a reference image of the artwork and inspect its preview.
5. Click **Apply art**.

Inspect the artwork's edges, colour and perspective.

Select the round wall decoration, upload a seascape, and apply the artwork.

## Change a carpet pattern

To explore a different pattern on a detected carpet:

1. Select the interior image and click **Segment**.
2. Wait for detection, then click the carpet region.
3. Choose **Change Pattern**.
4. Upload or drop the pattern reference and inspect its preview.
5. Click **Apply pattern**.

Inspect the carpet pattern's direction and scale. For a detected floor, use **Change Flooring**.

Select the rug, upload a geometric pattern, and inspect the applied result.

## What you'll see

The selected artwork or carpet displays the reference appearance in the interior image. The editable drawing remains unchanged.

## Troubleshooting

**The action is absent.** Check whether the selected content was detected as wall artwork or a carpet. Other categories offer different actions.

**The result no longer matches its highlight.** Use **Re-segment** before making another region-based edit.

**You want to replace the entire object.** Select the object and use [Replace Element](/ai-and-automation/replace-an-object-from-a-reference.md).
